Our Story

At Aera, we like to keep things simple. We make mechanical objects designed to accompany you on every journey. Life is unpredictable, which is why we’ve spent countless hours perfecting items you can rely on day in, day out. We call them ‘tools for life’. 

As seasoned professionals we each had our own views. But we did agree on one thing: that a good watch is honest, offers great quality, and comes at a reasonable price. The seeds for Aera was born. We drew our inspiration from classic tool watches that were designed to do one thing, measure time, and do it very well.

Our Beginning

Launched in 2018 by Jas Minhas and Olof Larsson, our founder’s family connections to watchmaking help inform what we do. We’re made up of a small group of design enthusiasts and watch lovers, who draw from experience in different areas of the industry to create products we’re proud of. Originality, functionality, longevity, these are all things that define Aera.

Design Led

We turn to classic tool watches for inspiration, the kind relied on by the world’s great adventurers, navigators and thinkers. But while we look to the past, we’re not defined by it. Our designs are contemporary updates on the classics - they’re modern tools designed to be practical for the long run. Our watches will outlive us all, and that’s a good thing. 

Our Origin

Why ‘Aera’? We wanted a name that would reflect the simplicity and purpose of our watches. Aera comes from the Latin noun Era, in layman's terms meaning a period of time with a distinct character, which suggested something both memorable and long lasting as well as being a reminder for us all to make the best use of time, the ultimate luxury.
