The D-1 Ocean and D-1 Forest are two new editions of Aera’s contemporary dive watch.
Inspired by the professional diving watches of the mid-20th century, both models combine robust functionality with a refined, minimal design for everyday wear.
The Ocean draws from deep maritime blues and shifting tones of ocean water. The Forest takes inspiration from coastal kelp forests and dense woodland canopies.
Limited to 300 pieces each, both watches preserve the clarity, legibility and disciplined restraint that define the D-1 collection.
Aera watches are shaped by the same principles that defined the original tool watches: clarity, functionality and reliability in real-world use.
For the D-1, that inspiration began with the diving watches of the early 1950s – instruments built for underwater exploration before later being adopted by a growing generation of recreational divers and explorers.
Legibility, durability and timing precision were essential underwater, where reliability was directly connected to safety. The defining innovation was the unidirectional bezel, allowing divers to safely track elapsed dive time and oxygen use beneath the surface.
But equally important was simplicity: high-contrast dials, clear proportions and nothing unnecessary.
From the outset, the D-1 was designed to balance that functional reliability with a restrained contemporary aesthetic. It is this fusion of purposeful engineering and modern clarity that defines the D-1 today.
Every element of the D-1 is designed with purpose.
Both models feature upgraded Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 Elaboré automatic movements, selected for their reliability, precision and long-term serviceability.
The case, bezel, case back and buckle are machined from brushed 904L stainless steel – chosen for its superior corrosion resistance and deeper lustre compared to industry-standard steels.
Aera’s signature one-piece dished dial curves upward beneath the domed sapphire crystal, creating the smooth, pebble-like silhouette that defines the D‑1.
For these latest editions, the case profile and lugs have been subtly refined for improved comfort and balance on the wrist.
The result is a watch designed to perform reliably for years to come.
